Ryan S. Mullin

Chief Operating Officer

Ryan S. Mullin is a mission-driven healthcare executive motivated by the positive outcomes his leadership delivers to physicians and patients. As a CPA with over twenty years of experience serving healthcare organizations in the operations, finance, and accounting space, Ryan is uniquely qualified to bring meaningful transformation to ReFocus Eye Health’s practices.

The son of a nurse, Ryan understands the complexities of the healthcare system through the lens of a clinician as well as the patient. While studying for his Bachelor of Science in Health Policy and Management at Providence College, Ryan worked as an EMT, a job he continued for a decade as he earned his Master of Business Administration and Master of Science in Accounting at D’Amore-McKim School of Business at Northeastern University.

Ryan began his post-graduate career in operations at Boston Children’s Hospital in 2000, then joined PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he was trained in auditing, internal controls, and management consulting. Over the next two decades, Ryan managed financial and operational performance in the healthcare space as Regional Vice President of Operations (New England) at Radiology Partners, Regional Director of Financial Planning at Trinity Health Of New England, Managing Consultant in Finance Effectiveness at PricewaterhouseCoopers, Senior Strategic Planner at Yale New Haven Health System and Director of Financial Planning and Analytics at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Ryan’s contributions in healthcare include sharing his knowledge as an educator. He has taught Financial Accounting and Healthcare Finance at the University of Massachusetts-Lowell and New York University’s Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service.

Throughout his career, Ryan has guided many organizations through complex transitions. Moments of greatest change are when Ryan delivers the greatest results. Since joining ReFocus in 2022, Ryan’s goal has been to significantly enhance affiliate practices by providing operational leadership and support, the sharing of resources across locations, and the scaling of processes and technology. His vision is to create a fluidly integrated network so that ReFocus’ offices function in unity while elevating performance through the company’s core values of care and collaboration.
